Role Description
The Hybrid Staff Interpreter works between American Sign Language (ASL) and English, and works in the Washington, DC metro area. They are the front-line provider who has the greatest impact on the work and life outcomes of our consumers. Because of this, they focus on providing services that are trusted, easy to access, and efficient. TCSI trusts its interpreters to be highly skilled professionals who independently work in a way that focuses on impact and represents the company in an outstanding way. This full-time, salaried position reports to the Professional Staff Interpreter Manager. The salary range is between $90,000-105,000 per year for a 40 hour/week employee. For a 4-day, 32-hour position the salary range is between $72,000-84,000.
Requirements
The Hybrid Staff Interpreter makes on-the-spot decisions on interpreting and customer care in the field with a team of scheduling coordinators and management who consistently have their back remotely. The role is dynamic with a changing schedule depending on business needs, but balanced with the needs of the Hybrid Staff Interpreter’s personal life demands.
Your day-to-day work may include:
- Traveling on-site to interpreting assignments throughout the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia areas (75% of the time)
- Connecting remotely from a secure and professional home-office environment to interpret virtually for consumers (25% of the time)
- Supporting the on-demand Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) queue as needed
- Interpreting in classified or non-classified environments for government or commercial customers
- Consulting with scheduling coordination and/or management on assignment needs
- Serving as a lead interpreter in co-interpreted environments (including Deaf and hearing teams)
- Reviewing and assessing new interpreter applicant screenings
- Serving as a consumer lead to ensure high-touch consumers receive white glove services
- Taking adequate breaks to ensure physical and mental self-care
- Participating in professional development activities to enhance skill-set
- Other projects and duties as assigned
